Cách nhớ nhanh nhất là gom các cụm động từ theo động từ gốc: cùng một động từ, đổi tiểu từ là đổi nghĩa. Bài này gom những cụm thông dụng nhất với take, put, get, give, come, go, turn, look, break, carry và set — mỗi cụm kèm một câu ví dụ để bạn học trong ngữ cảnh.

Tiểu từ mang nghĩa gợi ý
up thường mang nghĩa “hết, hoàn toàn” (eat up, use up); off là “rời đi, tắt” (set off, switch off); back là “trở lại”.

- Văn viết trang trọng thường thay cụm động từ bằng động từ đơn: put off → postpone, find out → discover, carry out → conduct.
