Các động từ tường thuật khác (Reporting verbs)
Ngoài say và tell, còn nhiều động từ khác vừa tường thuật vừa cho biết ý định của người nói: promise, advise, warn, suggest, apologise, admit, refuse… Mỗi động từ lại đi với một cấu trúc riêng, nên bạn hãy học chúng theo từng nhóm.

Nhóm promise, agree, refuse, offer đi với to V.
- He promised to call me. — Anh ấy hứa sẽ gọi cho tôi.
+ người + to V
Nhóm advise, warn, remind, encourage đi với người + to V.
- The doctor advised me to rest. — Bác sĩ khuyên tôi nghỉ ngơi.
+ V-ing
Nhóm suggest, admit, deny đi với V-ing; còn apologise thì đi với for + V-ing.
- She suggested going to the beach. — Cô ấy đề nghị đi biển.
- He apologised for being late. — Anh ấy xin lỗi vì đến muộn.
Lưu ý
- suggest không đi với tân ngữ + to V: câu “He suggested me to go” là sai ⇒ hãy nói “He suggested going” hoặc “He suggested that I go”.
